Strategies of healthy eating
Make sure you eat foods that will give you enough calories, but not too much either. Maintain a balance between the calories you take daily with the food and the ones that you spend. This basically means not to eat more food than your body actually needs. It is normal to consume about 2000 calories a day, but have in mind that this depends on your age, gender, height, weight and physical activity.
How to eat healthy?
1. Eating food from different groups. You may not like vegetables, fruits or cereals but they are actually very important for your health. Be moderate – watch for the portions, especially of high-calorie foods. Eat some foods that include complex carbohydrates, fibres, vitamins and minerals, and also low-calorie foods and foods that are cholesterol-free.
2. Drink more water. We all know that our bodies are made of 75% of water. This makes it an integral part of maintaining a healthy diet, because water will help you clean your urinary tract, especially your kidneys and bladder.
3. Put some limits. What I am trying to say by this is that you should really watch for the amounts of salt, sugar and refined products you eat. Of course, you don’t have to become a food inspector or something like this. You can enjoy your favourite treats and even some fried foods, but you don’t have to make this a routine, because the fact is that your body actually doesn’t need all those.
4. Make sure you spend enough time moving, because a healthy diet improves your general condition and also increases your energy while reducing the risk of many diseases. Regular physical activity, some exercise and a proper diet will influence your whole life. Actually, after a while, you will find out that establishing some new nutrition habits is much easier than you have though in the beginning.
5. Be smart. Healthy eating begins precisely with being smart and knowing how to eat reasonably. This is not associated with the type of food we eat but with the way of eating it. So, take your time to chew a bit longer. Try to chew slowly and enjoy every bite. Avoid any stress while eating. This is actually of grave importance, because when we are stressed, our metabolism may be put out of order and this, on the other hand, may cause colitis and other diseases. Therefore, avoid eating at your workplace, while driving your car or watching television. Take a deep breath before you start eating and make yourself comfortable. You can also light some candles and play some music in order to make the atmosphere more pleasant.
6. Listen to your body. Ask yourself if you are hungry. If you are not, there is no need of eating right now. And while you are eating stop right before you are full. It takes a few minutes until your brain send the signal to your body and you realize that you don’t need more food.
7. Have a breakfast regularly. Start your day with a healthy breakfast – this is the perfect start for your metabolism and an important part of your diet. A good idea is also to eat small portions of food regularly. This will also help your metabolism work better.
